A mining town back in the day, these days, El Triunfo is a perfect destination to learn about the history of Baja California Sur.
El Triunfo is located just 45 kilometers out of La Paz on highway 1, It was formerly a mining town founded by immigrants looking for gold and silver.
These days you can find the vestiges of the mining industry that transformed the history of Baja California Sur in the XIX century. Some of the historical attractions include two large chimneys, La Julia and La Ramona, the latter one designed by Gustave Eiffel, the designer of the Eiffel tower.
Other peculiar attractions include the european and chinese migrant cemeteries. Each one of them holds the remainings of the people that came to this area in the search of fortune and dreams.
La Vieja Casona (the old house), as the Music Museum is known, holds and exhibition of El Triunfo history through photos, furniture, and musical instruments with a collection of 87 pianos from different times.
