The peninsular pronghorn is an endemic species that is in danger of extinction. Today, the pronghorn´s habitat is the protected area covered by the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve and the Valle de los Cirios Fauna and Flora Protected Area. In this natural refuge, the conservation entities work, through strict actions, on the repopulation of this mammal.
The salt farm, the largest in the world, allows for visitors to go through the property to learn more about the salt production process. There one can find industrial machinery, like the famous “Darts” with its huge wheels of 3mts of diameter (these vehicles are specifically built to harvest the salt.) Surreal landscapes surround this area making it an unmissable experience along Ruta 1.
