LA PURISIMA

La Purisima is located 145 kms north of the city of Constitucion, capital of the Municipality of Comondu, right in the center and middle of Baja California Sur. The spectacular landscape with its river, palm grove and leafy trees is heightened by the famous hill El Pilon.
In the XVIII century, when the Jesuits arrived to the peninsula, they believed the shape of El Pilon hill looked like the abstract form of the Virgin Mary, which they saw as a sign to settle in and founding the Purisima Concepción de Maria Cadegomo mission.  Today there are only some records about the mission, nothing else. 

At La Purisima it is possible to hike on trails that go along creeks that lead into an oasis, ideal to make a stop, freshen up and rest.  It is also a perfect destination to relax and enjoy the beauty and calmness this landscape offers.

The local community of La Purisima produces goat cheese, fruit and date preserves well known for their delicious taste. The talavera pottery craftsmen continue using old techniques inherited from their ancestors to make different objects like saddles, chaps y the famous original teguas (leather shoes) amongst other products.
