LA VENTANA

La Ventana, is a small community only 45 minutes away from La Paz that has quickly become known around the world as the the kite surfing capital.  At La Ventana visitors can also do some other activities like mountain biking, ATV´s rides, stand up paddle boarding, yoga retreats, game fishing, and tours to Cerralvo Island, while enjoying the beautiful beaches and hot springs and tasting exquisite sea food and fish dishes typical of the local gastronomy.

Due to its geographical location, it is possible to do different activities in divers ecosystems that are very close to each other.

Around La Ventana, in the outskirts of the La Laguna Sierra, visitors can do mountain biking and trekking through trails ideal for these activities.

In La Ventana Bay, it is possible to enjoy the beautiful beaches and do kite surfing, either to practice if you are already a pro, or to learn if you are a beginner.  The best season to do kite surfing in La Ventana is from November to early March when the wind coming from the north reaches 30 knots.

At La Ventana and the neighboring community of El Sargento, there are a number of kite surfing schools where you can take classes and rent the gear.

Isla Cerralvo – its official name is Jacques Cousteau Island in honor of the French oceanographer-has been declared World Heritage by the UNESCO and it is ideal for game fishing in the Sea of Cortes waters.
