Santiago is an oasis ideal for bird watching; enjoying nature and gateway to the Sierra La Laguna biosphere reserve.
Taking Ruta 1 going north, only 50 kms away from Los Cabos, there is the historic town of Santiago famous for its history and natural beauty in Baja California Sur.
This village was first founded as a mission in 1721 under the name of Santiago de los Coras Aiñiní and it is part of the missions´ tour in Baja California Sur.
Santiago is also gateway to the Sierra La Laguna biosphere reserve perfect to do several activities like hiking, canyoning, camping, bird watching, among others. The hikes through the Zorra and San Dionisio canyons allow visitors to explore and learn more about the unexpected vegetation of this place, as well as to enjoy some cultural exchange with the local cowboys.
The landscape changes radically when the arid desert meets the green lush vegetation of the small oasis with its mango, orange and grapefruit trees that grow around Santiago.
