DAY 1

Los Cabos - Todos Santos

Upon arriving to Los Cabos International Airport we recommend you rent a car at the airport to move more freely visiting some of the destinations along Ruta 1.

Go to Todos Santos, which is a beautiful 2 hours drive surrounded by a beautiful landscape.   You will spend the next two nights in this wonderful destination between the sea, the desert while tasting delicious local dishes.

If you arrive in the morning, we recommend visiting some of the famous art galleries or the modern Profesor Néstor Agúndez Martínez cultural center that is located in an old school which also is home of a local history museum.   

DAY 2

Day of Surfing

Only a few kilometers from Todos Santos you will find two of the best beaches for surfing: Cerritos y El Pescadero. First thing in the morning, take your board or rent one from the local providers and spend the day in the waves.

Return to Todos Santos to rest and enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the restaurants of your choosing.

DAY 3

Surf for a while and get back home

Take advantage of your morning and tackle the first waves of the day and later head off to the airport only a few hours away, to take your flight back home.

DAY 1

Arrival to La Paz

Welcome to Baja California Sur!  Upon arrival to La Paz International Airport go to the hotel of you have booked.

We recommend you explore the city center, the pier, eat in one of the restaurants or bars, but do not miss one of the most beautiful spectacles in La Paz like its sunsets.

DAY 2

Espiritu Santo Island

In the morning get ready for an unbelievable experience! 

You will need to hire the services from an authorized tour operator to visit Espiritu Santo Island; this island is a Natural Protected Area and declared a World Heritage site by the UNESCO where you will have the opportunity to swim with sea lions and visit breathtaking beaches.

We recommend you have lunch in the island by the Sea of Cortes before you head back to La Paz in the afternoon.

DAY 3

Whale Shark and back home

This morning you will go in quest of the whale shark, the largest fish in the world.  You will need to hire the services from an authorized tour operator who will provide you with all the information and gear you need to enjoy this experience to its fullest.

It is recommended that visitors book their flights departing after 4pm to ensure they have time to enjoy this experience and their stay in Baja California Sur.

In case visitors need to take an early flight, they can find tour operators that offer the visit to Espiritu Santo Island and swimming with whale sharks on the same day.

DAY 1

Arrival to Loreto

Upon arriving to Loreto International Airport, go to the hotel of your choosing and explore this Magical Town´s downtown surrounded by the beautiful landscape.

We recommend you rent a car at the airport so you can move freely during your trip.

DAY 2

Visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico

First thing in the morning drive north of Bahia Concepcion – it will take you 1hour approximately- where you will find incredible beaches to spend the day.  You may want to bring water and snacks, or you can eat at one of the local restaurants with delicious seafood.
Back in Loreto you can enjoy a delicious dinner in a restaurant downtown.

DAY 3

A little taste of culture and back home

In the morning drive to San Javier to visit one of the best preserved missions in Baja California Sur; you will be able to walk and explore a little of this town before continuing your way to the Airport and head back home.

DAY 1

Arrival to Los Cabos

Upon arriving to Los Cabos International Airport go to the hotel of your choosing. We recommend you enjoy the afternoon and relax either at your hotel or going to have dinner to one of the great restaurants with delicious gastronomy you can find in Los Cabos.
Remember that to be able to do sportfishing you need to hire the services of an authorized tour operator.

DAY 2

Fishing in Los Cabos

Los Cabos is one of the favorite destinations for game fishing and there are several spots where you can do it. 

Given its location, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes meet, Los Cabos is a place that guarantees a fruitful fishing journey.
Return to your hotel and get ready for the next day.

DAY 3

Fishing in Los Cabos and transfer to Los Barriles

In the morning you will have the opportunity to go fishing again in the rich waters of Los Cabos.

After lunch, you will drive for one hour and a half to Los Barriles where you will spend the next 3 nights.  Los Barriles is another popular spot for sportfishing lovers due to its abundance.

Check into the hotel of your choosing to relax and get ready for tomorrow´s adventure.

DAY 4

Fishing in Los Barriles

Before sunrise you will go out to the sea in quest of your fish! After a successful fishing day and once back in Los Barriles, you will be able to find some restaurants where they can cook your catch of the day and taste it's delicious flavors!

DAY 5

Fishing in Los Barriles

Today you will have another opportunity to go fishing!  Amongst the fish you can find all year round are: Dorado, red snapper, yellowfin tuna, and marlin, to mention some

Maybe today you decide to go again to one of the restaurants and have them you’re your fish using a new local recipe!

In case you want to share with your family and friends your catch, we recommend you buy a cooler and put the fish in there. The service provider or hotel can help you packing the fish perfectly so you tan take it into the plane (recommended only for domestic flights within Mexico.  For international flights some restrictions and regulations may apply, therefore you should check with your country's authorities. 
 

DAY 6

Transfer to the airport and Return back Home

Transfer to Los Cabos International Airport to take the flight back home and be able to share with your family and friends this amazing experience along Ruta 1 Baja California Sur.

DAY 2

Visit to San Javier

The town of San Javier is only 37kms from Loreto, where we recommend you spend a morning visiting this historical town, its beautiful mission and strolling around its streets and trails.

In the afternoon you can visit the historical town of Loreto.

DAY 3

Loreto Bay and Coronado Island National Park

Today is a day to explore the natural wonders of the Sea of Cortes in the Loreto Bay National Park. You will be able to go snorkeling or scuba diving to appreciate the marine life abundance of the “aquarium of the world” as the famous French oceanographer Jacques- Yves Cousteau named it.

You will have the opportunity as well of visiting dreamlike beaches at the Coronado Island also in the national park.

DAY 4

Magdalena Bay

Today is a day full with adventure! Drive across La Giganta Sierra towards Magdalena Bay where – in winter season you can watch grey whales and walk up and down the impressive sand dunes.

In the afternoon return to Loreto to relax and rest.

DAY 5

Conception Bay

Conception Bay is only 75kms away from Loreto. Today is a day to spend it in some of the most beautiful beaches in the Gulf of California.  Each one of the beaches offer a different experience.

DAY 6

Fligth back Home

Transfer from your hotel to Loreto International Airport to take your flight back home taking amazing memories from the breathtaking landscape, amazing beaches, spectacular nature and delicious gastronomy.

DAY 1

Arrival to Los Cabos

Upon arrival to Los Cabos International Airport, go to the hotel you have booked in advance. In Los Cabos you will be able to find from the most exclusive hotels and boutique hotels to simpler, les expensive hotels or other lodging options. 

Here you will spend the next two nights enjoying the local gastronomy and strolling around the historic city center of San José del Cabo.
It is important you hire the services from an authorized scuba diving operator to be able to do this activity in the following days.

DAY 2

Scuba Diving in Los Cabos

Los Cabos has one of the most iconic beaches of Baja California Sur and given its location, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortes, it is possible to find a unique variety of marine creatures.

DAY 3

Cabo Pulmo

Today you will have a spectacular experience… Visit the Cabo Pulmo Marine Park for one of the most amazing dives you could do in the region.  While underwater you will discover the magic of this place! 

You will be able to see more than 300 marine species and one of the three coral reefs on the West coast of North America.

Return to your hotel and get ready for tomorrow´s next adventure.

DAY 4

Diving in Cabo Pulmo and transfer to La Paz

In the morning you will have the chance to dive once more in Cabo Pulmo.  Later you will head on to La Paz. 

If you are traveling by car, the drive from Cabo Pulmo to La Paz is of about 2 hours and 45 minutes. 

Once in La Paz, we suggest you stop at the hotel you have booked in advance and later go to the pier to enjoy the spectacular sunsets La Paz is famous for and which you will never forget!

DAY 5

Visit Espiritu Santo Island or Swim with Whale Sharks

As you may know today isn´t advisable you scuba dive since you will be flying back home tomorrow (it is suggested not to fly on the next 24 hours after the last immersion.)

Therefore, this day we recommend you visit the Espiritu Santo Island or go swimming with whale sharks.  To do any of these activities you need to hire the services from an authorized tour operator and ensure you have one of the best experiences in your life.

¡Of course if you decide you HAVE to scuba dive around the island, you can always extend your stay and explore this submarine paradise a little longer!

DAY 6

Back Home

Today you can either drive your rental car, take a taxi or book a transfer to La Paz or Los Cabos international airports- depending on your flight.

DAY 2

Humpback whales in Los Cabos

This day you will live an amazing experience!  You will have the opportunity to see the acrobatic humpback whales that visit Los Cabos and its waters each year in winter.

In the afternoon, transfer to La Paz; on the way you will stop in Todos Santos – a beautiful town famous for its art galleries and artists, as well as for its breathtaking landscape.

Continue your way to La Paz, arrive to the hotel of your choosing and get ready for tomorrow´s adventure.

DAY 3

Whale Shark

Today´s morning you will go out to swim with the largest fish in the world! It is necessary to hire the services from an authorized tour operator to have this unforgettable experience.

In the afternoon you can visit one of the most beautiful beaches in all Mexico, Balandra. You can also do some water activities like snorkeling, kayaking or just relax surrounded by all the natural beauty.
 

DAY 4

Transfer to Loreto

Early in the morning you will head to Loreto admiring the spectacular views and landscape along Ruta 1.  Around noon you will be arriving to the Magical Town of Loreto.

Arrival to the hotel of your choosing, and after checking in and relaxing, we recommend you explore the city center.

DAY 5

Blue Whale

Today is the day to go in quest for the largest mammal on earth- the blue whale! It will be an unforgettable experience! For this activity you will need to hire the services of an authorized tour operator.

Return to your hotel.

DAY 6

Transfer to San Ignacio

In the morning you will drive towards Bahia Concepcion along the scenic highway of Ruta 1. 

Upon arrival check into the hotel of your choosing, we recommend to relax and later get out and explore the town of San Ignacio.

DAY 7

Grey Whales in San Ignacio Lagoon

Board the local boats and go out looking for these friendly grey whales that come to the warm waters of Baja California Sur to mate and give birth. With luck you will have the opportunity to see whale calves that come closer to the boats.

Return to your hotel to rest and enjoy a delicious dinner.

DAY 8

Transfer to La Paz

Leaving very early in the morning you will get onto Ruta 1 and return to La Paz.  You will be arriving in the afternoon with enough time to explore the city´s downtown and walk along the pier to enjoy the sunset.

DAY 9

Flight back home from either La Paz or Los Cabos

Depending on your final destination, it is possible to take a flight back home from La Paz International Airport or drive to Los Cabos International Airport.

DAY 3

Whale Shark and Transfer to Loreto

During season you will have the opportunity to swim with the largest fish in the world, the whale shark!

After lunch, take Ruta 1 towards Loreto and enjoy the spectacular views and landscape along the way.

Loreto and San Javier

Today you will get a good idea of the kind of cultural experiences Ruta 1 offers to all travelers.  You will visit the Loreto and San Javier old missions, which are an essential part of Baja California peninsula´s history.

DAY 5

Wild Paradise

Today you will visit San Cosme and San Javier, a paradise between the sierra and the sea. You will have the opportunity to learn how ‘rancheros’ (people living in ranches) live, ride a mule and taste their delicious regional food in one of their restaurants.

In San Cosme, you can spend the night at one bus that has been transformed into a hotel room and enjoy a lazy night under the starry sky, or, you can camp on the beach and be in touch with nature.  If you rather return to Loreto in the afternoon, you can do it, and spend the night at the hotel you choose.

DAY 6

San Juanico

Today is a perfect day to relax…You will visit San Juanico, on the Pacific Ocean coast, to enjoy a day disconnected from technology, totally calm, on the beach. You can take surfing lessons, go fishing or simply enjoy the beautiful natural beauty of this place.

DAY 7

La Purísima and San Miguel de Comondu

Today you will visit El Pilán hill in La Purisima doing a hike along a trail where you learn about the local vegetation. If you like to, you can swim in a natural pool at the hill´s outskirts and enjoy a spectacular view.

In the afternoon, go to Los Comondus, a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert, where you can visit what is left of the old mission. We recommend you spend the night in San Miguel or you can drive a little longer and head towards Ciudad Constitucion or Magdalena Bay to spend the night.

DAY 8

Magdalena Bay and transfer to La Paz

In case you have chosen to say in San Miguel, drive your car towards Magdalena Bay and if it is grey whale-watching season, you will want board a boat and head to sea to look for them, it is an opportunity you can´t miss.

In the afternoon, drive to La Paz and spend your adventure´s last night.  You can always return to the pier, or have dinner in another restaurant with delicious local food to celebrate the ending you such an amazing trip.

DAY 9

Departing Flight

In the morning you can take advantage and stroll around the city center before heading to La Paz International Airport to take your flight back home.

Coronado Island

Today it would be a day to enjoy nature while doing water activities.  Visit Coronado Island that is in the Loreto Bay National Park where you can snorkel or scuba dive, and spend time on the island´s beaches and relax.

DAY 3

Bahia Concepcion in the way to Guerrero Negro

In the morning get in your car and drive towards Guerrero Negro. The views and landscape that will accompany during your ride are truly incredible. You can make a stop to grab a snack or have lunch in one of the beaches along Bahia Concepcion.

Continue enjoying the road to Guerrero Negro, and once there check into the hotel of your choosing and relax.

DAY 4

Whales in Ojo de Liebre

Very early in the morning you will head out to look for the whales at Laguna Ojo de Liebre. To do this activity you will need to hire the service from an authorized tour operator.

In the afternoon you can visit the sand dunes of La Soledad, a fascinating place where you will think you are in a sea of sand.

Back to your hotel- we recommend you book a tour to visit the salt mine in Guerrero Negro for tomorrow.

DAY 5

Salt Mine in Guerrero Negro

Today you will enjoy a unique experience while you visit the largest salt mine in Mexico and learn about the process to extract this precious mineral.

After finishing the visit and having lunch, head back to your hotel in San Ignacio where you will spend the night and get ready for tomorrow.

DAY 6

Cave Paintings in the San Francisco Sierra

In the morning, go deep into the San Francisco Sierra to explore this dramatic scenery where its ancient inhabitants left beautiful traces of their existence. Upon arrival to the ranch, you will get a local guide assigned to you or your group to go exploring one of the most famous caves in the area: Raton Cave.

Or, if you prefer so, you can hire the services of a tour operator in San Ignacio.

After lunch head to Santa Rosalía to relax and spend the night there.

DAY 7

Historic Mulege and Bahia Concepcion

This day will allow you enjoy the views and landscapes that are unique to Ruta 1.  If you want to, you can visit different places like the Mulege Mission.

On your way back to Loreto you will have the chance to see Bahia Concepcion again.

DAY 8

Loreto and its surroundings

Today you will be able to choose amongst different activities based on your interests. During winter, you can go looking for the blue whale, go to Bahia Magdalena to watch grey whales or visit the historic mission of San Javier. Whatever you choose you will have an amazing day.

DAY 9

Flight Back Home

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and later go to Loreto International Airport to take your flight back.
